Henry Hsieh asked:

Otaku – it’s either a proud banner you wave around for everyone to see or a guilty secret that you keep to yourself. Otaku refers to a person with a passionately obsessive interest in anything. The correct usage of the term would be to place the word referring to what the person is obsessed about before the word otaku (e.g., anime otaku or manga otaku). Most people think that this term refers exclusively to anime addicts and manga addicts. But in reality, otaku can refer to anything, from anime to the military.

There are some common types of otaku in Japan and in the world, and these are the anime otaku, the manga otaku, the pasokon otaku, the gemu otaku, the wota, and the gunji otaku.

Anime Otaku

Anime Otaku are people who practically live, breathe, and eat anime. They watch anime whenever they can, and think about anime whenever they can’t. They are the die-hard fans of anime series. A common example would be those people who wear hitai-ate’s or konoha forehead protectors in pubic for no particular reason. They’re the ones who idolize Naruto so much that they add ‘dattebayo’ to the end of every sentence. They’re the ones who wear schoolgirl uniforms even when it’s not a school day. They’re the ones who know all the information about their favorite series and can recall even the minutest detail at any given time.

Manga Otaku

Oftentimes, anime otaku are also manga otaku, as anime shows are usually derived from manga. And therefore those who watch anime usually read the manga too. Manga refers to the Japanese comic books. Manga Otaku are the ones who can be found waiting for the bookstores to open early in the morning so that they can get first dibs on the latest releases of their favorite manga. The term can also be extended to the obsession in doujinshis. A Doujin (short for doujinshi) is a fanmade comic book, an unofficial spin-off from the official manga, more often than not portraying the life of a character. They’re released by a bunch of doujin circles, talented artists who devote their time making these doujinshi.

Pasokon Otaku

Pasokon otaku are people who are obsessed with their personal computers. They’re like tech-geeks, always itching to get their hands on the latest gadgets and gizmos for their computers. They’re so knowledgeable about computers that they would probably be accepted into Microsoft without having to bat an eyelash. They usually own their own weblogs and their own websites and might even know how to make their own games. It’s also very rare to find a pasokon with 20/20 vision.

Gemu Otaku

Gemu otakus are those who are obsessed with video games of any genre. Roleplaying games, MMORPG’s (massively multiplayer online games), action games, shoot ‘em up games, platform games, puzzle games, dance revolution, guitar hero, strategy games, racing games, sports games, dating games… you name it, they play it.

Wota

Wota are those who are addicted to their ‘idols’. They’re addicted to pop icons, pretty pop princesses, boy bands, etc.

Gunji Otaku

Gunji otaku are those who are obsessed with anything related to the military such as guns, strategies, tanks, planes and helicopters.

There are still tons of other types of Otakus, but the main idea here is obsession onto a certain hobby or things. That’s pretty much it on the explanation in the term Otaku in a nutshell, hopefully you’ve learned something new about it.

Henry Hsieh asked:

Does it surprise you that there are so many people who make anime the center of their lives? Just as cigarettes and alcohol can be addicting, anime can be addicting too. People who are addicted to anime, however, are termed as otaku, anime otaku, to be exact. There are people who do nothing all day but watch anime, think about anime, theorize about anime, collect anime, squeal about anime, and dream about anime. Well, not really but they still do a lot of stuff that are not related to anime, but you get the point. They’re totally and undeniably addicted to anime and who can blame them? Anime is just about one of the most addicting things in the world. But what makes it so addicting?

As a self-confessed anime addict, I’ll have to say that there are several reasons why anime is so addicting.

Characters

The first, and probably the most compelling reason of all, is the sheer beauty by which the makers create their characters. Out of all cartoons in the world, it is only in Japanese anime that I have seen such well rounded and realistic characters that are so distinctly human. Anime does not delude the viewers into thinking that someone can be perfect. The heroes and heroines in anime, beautiful as they may be, have their own flaws and insecurities. They’re not like the princesses in the cartoon fairy tales who are epitomes of grace and goodness, and are thereby incredibly flat and drab. Anime heroes and heroines are human, and their humanity makes them all the more interesting.

Also, because they each have their own personalities, we’re sure to find at least one character in every show with whom we can relate with and empathize with. And this is one of the biggest reasons why we get hooked in anime versus American cartoons because we’re always trying to find out what’s going to happen with our favorite characters.

Plots

The plots in anime are just as much reason to get addicted as the characters themselves. Anime Series are almost always gifted with great plots. The plots are seldom ever watered down to suit the audience, thus never undermining the intelligence of the viewers as some of the other cartoon series do. They anime makers can dish out the most elaborate plots and never worry whether anyone will understand whether they will be understood or not – after all, anime is not simply a franchise, it’s a form of art, and if people don’t understand it today. Then maybe the people of tomorrow will.

Anime plots are always suffused with a sufficient amount of suspense, drama, intrigue, politics, and enough twists and turns to leave your jaw hanging. And not only that, they’re usually deep and always have a lesson attached to them.

Animation

Okay, let’s not deny it. Part of the reason why we watch anime is because it simply looks amazing. Take for example Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, although they are in 2D format, sometimes they are drawn even better then the ones that are created in 3D. Given two choices for the general public to pick; to watch Naruto or to watch Shrek 3D my bet is most would choose to watch Naruto. Those overly large eyes, those gravity defying hairstyles, those weirder than weird clothes; they’re simply perfect and enough to make anyone keep coming back for more. The artistic amazement is just none stop however you look at it.

Henry Hsieh asked:

There’s no denying that anime characters are incredibly cute, beautiful, and handsome. Disproportional their facial features and body builds may be, they’re still magnificently good looking. In fact, it’s probably these imperfections that turn them into such good looking things. There are even times when they’re even more perfected than people both in their physique and face. And because of this, they often become objects of our adoration. And since imitation is the best form of flattery, there are people who just love to imitate anime characters… even going so far as to dress up as one. Dressing up as an anime character is what we call cosplaying.

However, you can’t just cosplay any time you want because people would think you were crazy. There’s a time and place for everything and for cosplaying; in the US it’s usually done during an anime convention while in Japan there are pockets of people that does them regularly in various cities or special cosplay cafes.

The Costumes

As you probably noticed, anime characters are usually clothed with very weird outfits. They sometimes wear clothes that are virtually impossible to be made in real life; after all, they can afford this since they’re simply ink on paper. This poses as a primary challenge for all cosplayers. But somehow, people are resourceful and they can always manage. Even the most complex of costumes can be duplicated by the means of some cardboard and some fabrics. Some cosplayers are so good that they’ve even managed to dress up as a real human robot from ‘transformers’ and is able to transform from a robot to a car. That must have taken a lot of time, effort, and brains.

Some of the more popular subjects for cosplay are the Naruto as well as the Naruto Shippuden characters. In every cosplay convention, there will always be people dressing up as the Naruto characters, even the minor ones. There’s an especially large number of Akatsuki Cosplayers because those black cloaks with red clouds are incredibly easy to make and to wear.

The Look

The costumes are a breeze as compared to emulating an anime character’s look. You’re lucky if the one you’re cospaying as looks like a normal human being. But try copying those anime characters that have out of this world hair and inhuman skin! Just imagine trying to cosplay as Freeza or Cell from Dragon Ball Z! The anime look is incredibly hard to pull off.

And to top it all off, you need to be relatively good looking yourself if you don’t want to be a laughing stock. It also helps if you’re of Asian descent because Asians are naturally better at cosplaying anime characters, even those anime characters who are supposed to be European.

The Attitude

Emulating a characters attitude is a huge plus when you’re in an anime convention. It adds to the overall feel if you’ve adopt the attitude of the character you’re cosplaying as well. Imagine cosplaying as Sasuke and acting like Naruto! That would be totally inappropriate. Just never take the assimilation of the character’s attitude too far or else you might just end up scaring people.

During cosplays, those who are able to emulate a character as accurate as possible are usually lauded with awards and praises. And there are several people who go to cosplays just to have their picture taken with other cosplayers, surprisingly? To the most of us yes it is, but then that’s the world of cosplaying.

Naruto is a very well-known Japanese manga (comic) and anime (animation) series, both in the US and across the world. The series, both manga and anime, have created a phenomenal success throughout the world, especially amongst teens and young adults. The manga has been running since 1999 and has had up to Volume 46 as of May 1, 2009, while the anime has been airing since October 3, 2002 in Japan and is still showing on TV Tokyo as of now. The series quickly gained its fans because of its story, which the main character, Naruto Uzumaki, had to go against all the odds in order to reach his dream and to protect the bond he has with his lost best friend. So many people could relate to Naruto’s hardship in life, and to some point idolize him. The characters around him played really important parts in the story. Amongst these characters is his teacher, Hatake Kakashi. Hatake Kakashi is one of the most popular characters in Naruto series. Apart from his parts in training and teaching Naruto both physically and mentally, which played the important part in Naruto’s growth throughout the series, he became really popular amongst the fans because of his laid-back character. The fans have known him the most for his signature hobby; reading the Icha-Icha book series, the “adults” books written by Jiraiya, another teacher of Naruto, and his mysterious “face” which has always been concealed by a mask. However, when Kakashi was teased to be “dying” or “dead” by the manga author in the latest arc in the Naruto manga, it sent a somewhat panic fever amongst the fans. It was as if hearing the news of someone very close to you die. Most fans were in disbelief and some even claimed not to continue reading and following the series anymore. That just shows how much Kakashi is loved amongst Naruto fans. Whether it is true that Kakashi is “really” dead, it is best to just enjoy every Naruto episode of the anime where we can still see Kakashi well and alive, and enjoy that while we can.

It’s very easy to download ‘South Park’

Generally, it’s conceived that these are kids only who easily get fascinated to animation series. Teenagers, however to a little extent only, can also be crazy to watch those animated creatures on TV or internet. The phenomenon is no-way analogous to Naruto TV show as series has attracted all age groups with its very unique and entertaining plot. Naruto TV show’s very sweet, funky, crazy characters are sufficient enough to make you switch on the TV on the day it’s aired.          The mounting craze for Naruto episodes is persuading people to turn to internet to make Naruto episodes download.

This animated series is centered on Naruto Uzumaki and his gang of friends. Peacefully going life of Naruto got an unforeseen change as a demon fox attacked the village Naruto was living in. In order to get rid of the demon, the most powerful ninja sealed the soul of the demon into Naruto. After he grew up, Naruto made a team with Sasuke and Sakura and his instructor Kakashi to face the dangers and try to rescue themselves and other innocent people around the world.

Thousands of websites are offering Naruto downloads likewise in case of other popular American, British and Canadian TV Shows. Several require the visitor to avail their membership and innumerous promise to provide complete TV shows without paying even a single penny. Nothing on internet comes in terms of free so never think to go with any websites making promises to provide free online stuff. It’s quite possible that those websites won’t provide you nothing more than the fake links and the links given to links. Hence, it’s not gonna be a very smart decision.

The simplest and the best way, to Download Naruto episodes, is to join a website. Such kinda website needs you to avail their membership. Become a member and get an access to download your favorite TV shows. Several modes of memberships are available. You can go with a limited membership or can avail lifetime membership. If you go with limited membership, then, you are given access to download your favorite TV shows for that limited period only. But when you go with lifetime membership, you get an access to download thousands of TV shows, just by paying single time charges. In addition to these two membership modes, several other membership modes are also available to make the visitor feel more friendly and well-served. And, the best part is that you don’t need to download any extra software to support your download.

Forget about DVDs and such kinda stuff. Those are released much after the original airings of the show and the fans are supposed to wait a lot to arrange a DVD.  Instead of waiting too much simply download Naruto episodes. Downloading is very easy and beneficial task and if you know the right way to go ahead, then you would succeed surely. So, make ‘Naruto’ downloads and enjoy your favorite TV show at the comfort of your PC!

It’s a common phenomenon that the animation series always attract kids more than teenagers. But, its’ not the same in case of Naruto as series is equally liked by teenagers and by grown people as well. The plotline of Naruto revolves around Naruto Uzumaki and his friends. The life of Naruto changed when a demon fox attacked the village, Naruto was a baby then, and the soul of the demon was sealed into Naruto. As he grew up, people of town treated him like a demon and it made his life hard. Naruto later joined a three man team consisted of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura along with their instructor Kakashi. It shows how they all face dangers and try to rescue themselves and other innocent people as well.

Cartoon is a term that once referred to fine art during the renaissance period. Somehow, though, the term’s meaning evolved (or devolved, depending on how you look at it) into humorous and witty illustrations and, finally, into animated programs meant to entertain people, mostly children. For, clarity, the term ‘cartoon’ in this article shall be referring to the animated programs. Recently, however, a new term has been coined: Anime. And the distinction between these two has caused much confusion.

Strictly speaking though, there should be no distinction between anime and cartoon. Anime is a term used by the Japanese to refer to animated cartoons, from their own country and from others as well. Somehow, though, the world started using the term anime in reference to Japanese cartoons exclusively. Japanese animation was once called japanimation, but this term was aptly discarded when the term ‘Anime’ was put into use.

Some say that they see absolutely no difference between the two, even going so far as to classify both cartoons and anime as ‘childish’ because of the nature of how they are presented, much to the woe of anime fans. Technically, there’s no official difference and they are somewhat correct. But you only have to watch a single episode of any anime series and you’ll see that anime is far more than your usual slapstick comedy man-tripping-on-a-banana-peal early morning cartoons. There is a real and profound difference between the two besides their spellings: Anime is so much more than ‘just a cartoon’.

Storylines/Plots

Cartoons usually have a simple and defined plot. And they’re usually about the good guys fighting the bad guys. Cartoons rarely go beyond that old cliché. Most Anime series, on the other hand, are also about the same good vs. evil but the plots are rarely simple and rarely predictable. You’ll find an element of politics, religion, humanity, and a score of several other abstract concepts within an anime. Whereas cartoons are just about ‘evil’ cats chasing ‘innocent’ mice or a hero defending himself and others from a very evil bully. Anime can blur the lines between good and evil so much that you’ll be left wondering which side is really right. Look at the plot of Gundam, there aren’t any good guys or bad guys. They’re both fighting for a cause – a worthy one, and both sides are prepared to do good and evil to achieve their goals. Look at the Wave Country arc of Naruto which is now at Naruto Shippuden. Zabuza, evil as he was, had evoked more sympathetic tears than any of the typical Disney antagonists. There are, however, few exceptions to the ‘cartoons are simple’ rule. There are cartoon series that are far advanced like X-men.

In terms of humor, anime goes beyond the slapstick comedy that cartoons offer. There won’t be any corny joke about the chicken crossing the road with anime. There won’t even be the quintessential banana peal. Anime humor is deep and witty. However, it is to be noted that cartoons are mostly for kids. Anime can be for an adult audience; it mostly is, actually. There are even times when anime plots are hardly suited for children.

Characters

In cartoons, there’s a protagonist, an antagonist, and a damsel in distress. Their roles are well-defined and clear and the characters always act according to their roles. In anime, however, the damsel in distress may very well become the antagonist, leaving the protagonist in distress. There’s no knowing what to expect in anime. Anime characters, a lot of times, are developed overtime through trials and growth, while cartoon characters remain the same from when the show started. (Of course, there are exceptions such as Spiderman.) Since there’s an ongoing plot, Anime characters actually grow up and may even produce the next generation for the series. Anime fans tend to get into the characters a lot deeper because of the characters’ depth and charm. Consider Naruto; viewers see him growing up from an infant to a young powerful ninja, the way he relates to people, the way he learns new techniques, and the way he evolves visually. That is one of the chief reasons for popularities of anime over plain cartoons.
