Jim Brown asked:

I have been through watching the complete anime series of Naruto. It was interesting to find that they have made it into a video game. The game style is like any simple RPGs (role playing games). With every level, your character’s stats will increase and will be able to learn new tricks, new moves and new abilities similar with its anime series. This is what any common RPG is all about. You start from scratch then as the game progresses you will get stronger.

Although the game is nice and is very interesting, it is sometimes a displeasing thought that the developers did not re-animate or include some scenes in similar ways as that of the original series. The game can be finished around 10 hours for expert players and may even take 15-20 hours for beginners. This is something that I find lazy for the developers because having this short kind of game; they should have added CGIs to make the game even more enjoyable.

Overall, the game is fun as I went through it. They have impressed me with their graphics and the story lines are quite stunning. The voices they have used to voice over even are I could consider as top-class in what you call the basic anime series collection. However if you watch the game closely, you will really see one obvious loophole that may seem irritatingly funny is the way the characters talk without moving their mouth.

If I was one of the developers of this game, I could have included many things to improve this game and try it on out first before releasing them on public. It could have been an excellent video game if they have animated all the things aside from the basic movement of walking, running, jumping and mute talking (the funny voice over).

The game style is also that of the anime series. It involves a series of mission very much alike with the television series. You need to get to a certain location, say location X then will go to location Y, after this you need to go back to location X and this cycle is a vicious cycle. This cycle repeats for about four to five times before getting back on the right story track. Well, perhaps this isn’t the worst case scenario. Some games could even you more ridiculous and irritating features than this one which I find sometimes the same bottom line of video games.

Each time the mission is done though you will be able to teleport from your current location to leaf village which I find nice because it saves you time from traveling here and there. Whatever I find ridiculous and lacking features of this game, I can still say that the game is actually pleasing and enjoying as I walked through it. Since it is only a short lived game, I find this very interesting. Should it have continued for more than the time I expected, then perhaps that’s another story. I suggest you watch the whole Naruto anime series before sacking this one. Believe me, the series will really help a lot.

Us admins get this question asked to us every now and then in regarding the difference between the two and we have decided to answer it publicly in depth. So for you people looking for some good grounded answers, this post should give you some good basis to distinguish the two.

Cartoon is a term that once referred to fine art during the renaissance period. Somehow, though, the term’s meaning evolved (or devolved, depending on how you look at it) into humorous and witty illustrations and, finally, into animated programs meant to entertain people, mostly children. For, clarity, the term ‘cartoon’ in this article shall be referring to the animated programs. Recently, however, a new term has been coined: Anime. And the distinction between these two has caused much confusion.

Strictly speaking though, there should be no distinction between anime and cartoon. Anime is a term used by the Japanese to refer to animated cartoons, from their own country and from others as well. Somehow, though, the world started using the term anime in reference to Japanese cartoons exclusively. Japanese animation was once called japanimation, but this term was aptly discarded when the term ‘Anime’ was put into use.

Several people, mostly the grownups, say that they see absolutely no difference between the two, even going so far as to classify both cartoons and anime as ‘childish’ because of the nature of how they are presented, much to the woe of anime fans. Technically, there’s no official difference and the grownups are somewhat correct. But you only have to watch a single episode of any anime series and you’ll see that anime is far more than your usual slapstick comedy man-tripping-on-a-banana-peal early morning cartoons. There is a real and profound difference between the two besides their spellings: Anime is so much more than ‘just a cartoon.

Storylines/Plots

Cartoons usually have a simple and defined plot. And they’re usually about the good guys fighting the bad guys. Cartoons rarely go beyond that old cliché. Most Anime series, on the other hand, are also about the same good vs. evil stuff but the plots are rarely simple and rarely predictable. You’ll find an element of politics, religion, humanity, and a score of several other abstract concepts within an anime. Whereas cartoons are just about ‘evil’ cats chasing ‘innocent’ mice or a hero defending himself and others from a very evil bully. Anime can blur the lines between good and evil so much that you’ll be left wondering which side is really right. Look at the plot of Gundam, there aren’t any good guys or bad guys. They’re both fighting for a cause – a worthy one, and both sides are prepared to do good and evil to achieve their goals. Look at the Wave Country arc of Naruto. Zabuza, evil as he was, had evoked more sympathetic tears than any of the typical Disney antagonists. There are, however, few exceptions to the ‘cartoons are simple’ rule. There are cartoon series that are far advanced like X-men.

In terms of humor, anime goes beyond the slapstick comedy that cartoons offer. There won’t be any corny joke about the chicken crossing the road with anime. There won’t even be the quintessential banana peal. Anime humor is deep and witty. However, it is to be noted that cartoons are mostly for kids. Anime can be for an adult audience; it mostly is, actually. There are even times when anime plots are hardly suited for children.

Characters

In cartoons, there’s a protagonist, an antagonist, and a damsel in distress. Their roles are well-defined and clear and the characters always act according to their roles. In anime, however, the damsel in distress may very well become the antagonist, leaving the protagonist in distress. There’s no knowing what to expect in anime.

In short, there are so many similarities between the two since they are fundamentally drawn but yet they are also very distinct in many ways. One thing is for certain are that both are gaining immense popularity amongst adults due to its evolutions through time. You would be surprised at how many parents actually know the existence of popular animes like Naruto Shippuden or Bleach these days.

Current Update: Nintendo DS Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 is available to be downloaded in Unlimited Ds Download.

Review selected from gamespot.com:

The Naruto series is still going strong, especially with its edgier, ongoing Shippuden storyline. Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 will cover the first two major story arcs, giving fans the opportunity to play through the important events of the show, more so than any other Naruto game being released this year. Tomy came by to give us an updated look at Ninja Destiny 2 as well as show us the game’s main features.

Ninja Destiny 2 is primarily a fighting game, but light role-playing game elements have been added to break up the gameplay. You’ll wander the familiar grounds of the Hidden Leaf Village in a top-down view, tracking down the locals to progress through the story. A helpful minimap at the bottom of the top screen will flag where you need to go. Our Tomy representative emphasized that the RPG elements are extremely light, so you’re not dealing with shops or currency, but there is freedom to explore. You’re running from one objective to another, traveling through dungeons and other towns, and picking up items you find along the way–which will prove to be helpful in battle. While exploring these locations, you’ll encounter random enemies before reaching the final showdown of that chapter, against a character from the series. The story is told through a lot of text, so depending on how much of it you want to read, it won’t be long before you get down to business and tackle the main boss of that particular chapter.

Once the Story mode is completed, you’ll unlock Quest mode, a new mode that generates mazelike dungeons for you to go through and complete. You can play this 30-level mode with different characters, which will ultimately unlock more characters to play. All the familiar faces from the original Ninja Destiny will return, and you’ll see some new faces as well, so the final roster will have 34 playable characters.

Recent Update: Nintendo DS Jump Ultimate Stars can be downloaded in Unlimited Ds Download.

Review acquired from thunderboltgames.com:

Shonen Jump is back. No, not the ever-so-popular Japanese magazine. I’m talking about the animated reality in which Shonen Jump characters exist. The place is inhabited heroes like Goku and Piccolo from Dragon Ball, Monkey D. Luffy and crew from One Piece, and the elite ninjas of Naruto fame. Any of those names sound familiar? If you’re a fan of current anime, a devout reader of its respective mangas, or just watch primetime Cartoon Network, these characters ought to be common knowledge. These are the anime characters that have become pop culture icons in Japan and have been featured on television in the United States. With the advent of Jump Superstars, these heroes were jumbled together for an ensemble roster of the DS’s premier fighting game. However, Jump! Ultimate Stars has arrived, and it is poised to gain even more fame than its predecessor could have hoped.

That’s right, boys and girls. That quirky DS fighting game is back and better than ever. However, the minds behind the first Jump game have pulled out all the stops this time. Jump! Ultimate Stars features 41 of Shonen Jump’s most famous series. It’s not just the recent stuff, either. Though Yu-Gi-Oh, Bleach, and all the rest of series have been retained from the previous title, this latest installment includes the casts from Fist of the North Star, Saint Seiya, Kinnukuman, and Captain Tsubasa. When all is said, done, and unlocked, you’ll find that Jump! Ultimate Stars boasts a character roster that nearly doubles that of its predecessor. Just in case you haven’t played the older game, that roughly translates to 300 characters.

Episode twenty one starts with the event of Sasori trying to reveal himself to Chiyo and Sakura, about his favorite puppet which was destroyed as shown in the previous episode. Sasori puts forward a summoning scroll and calls upon the Third Kazekage, whom Sasori had converted him into a puppet. Sasori had converted him into a puppet. Sasori uses his dangerous weapons and catches Sakura in a poison gas cloud. Meanwhile, Kankuro, Temari’s team and Ebizo proceeds towards the hideout of Akatsuki.

This article review consists of Naruto Episodes starting from episode one to episode six. Naruto episode one, talks about Naruto Uzumaki who returns to Konoha after two and a half year training journey along with Jairaiya. Naruto who is a Genin rank holder, is re-introduced to his peers, who have advanced to chunin rank. Also, the two members of Akatsuki move towards Sunagakure to capture Gaara, the village leader.

Episode two speaks about Akatsuki who wants to make a move towards Naruto. Jairaiya informs Kakashi Hatake about Akatsuki’s plan of collecting the tailed beasts which is in the form of a Demon Fox which is located inside Naruto’s body. Since Naruto’s life is in danger he leaves the village. It is Kakashi who takes the responsibility of Naruto’s safety. He thus trains Naruto. Kakashi gives Naruto and also Sakura a test in order to see how far they have improved. In the mean time Deidara and Sasori who are Akatsuki’s members, start arriving at the entrance of the Sunagakure.

Episode three is about Naruto and Sakura who has to undergo a test which is given by Kakashi. The test includes two jingle bells which is handled by Kakashi and it is Naruto and Sakura who will have to forcefully take the two jingle bells from Kakashi. Because Gaara has the ability to quickly summon a shield of sand around him in an easy manner. Gaara now goes ahead to attack Deira by commanding his sand to strike Deidara. http://www.tailedfox.com/”>Naruto Episode fourteen involves an event which consists of a battle between Guy and Kisame. There is a scene where Guy takes out his nunchaku to face Kisame’s sword. However, he is put down through Kisame’s water attacks. Guy has a goal to achieve whereby he has to open six of the eight charka gates in order to equal the score. On the other hand, Naruto becomes aware of the illusion that he is caught in and so he starts recalling his days of training which he had with Jairaiya so that he can use that particular knowledge in order to dispel Itachi’s illusion.

Episode 15 displays the continuous battle which started from the previous episode. Naruto fails in rescuing his own self from Itachi’s Genjutsu. However, it was Chiyo and Sakura who released Naruto from the clutches of Itachi. Also, Guy uses his morning Peacock technique and defeats Kisame accordingly.

In Episode sixteen, Kakashi tem and Guy’s team came to an understanding that their battles with the doppelgangers were arranged so that they are delayed in rescuing Gaara. Also, it has been revealed by Chiyo that during the attempts made to control the power of the tailed beast, they came across a human host called Junchuriki and this human host dies when the beast was extracted. Both the teams decide to rest now as their battles have come to a stand still and also they need to be prepared for the future battles ahead.

Episode seventeen shows Naruto having intense passion and he is eager to reach Gaara. This is because Naruto is also a Jinchuriki and he values the pain that Gaara has been carrying through. In the mean time, Akatsuki extracts Shukaku from Gaara. Finally, Gaara dies.

In episodes eighteen, Team Guy and Team Kakashi realizes that there is a barrier which is protecting the Akatsuki hideout. This barrier has been generated by five forbidden tags within the area. The tag is removed and the barrier is disabled by Team Guy and thus Kakashi can now enter the hideout. In the mean time all the members of Akatsuki have left the hideout excluding Deidara and Sasori.

In episode nineteen, the Team Guy is able to fight with the clones of themselves. This trap was activated by removing the barrier tags. The body of Gaara is taken out of the Cavern by Deidara. Chiyo and Sakura decides to stay back in order to fight Sasori.

Episode twenty shows Chiyo explaining to Sakura that Sasori was considered to be as one of the best puppeteers in Sunagakure but he used to experiment with real people. Sakura was now aware that Sasori’s true body was lying within his favorite puppet. It was now understood that Sasori can be defeated only if the puppet was destroyed. By using team work approach, Chiyo and Sakura tried to miss Sasori;s attacks and they finally destroyed the puppet from which Sasori himself comes out.

I have also seen another Naruto based wallpaper which relates to the organization of Akatsuki. This Naruto wallpaper has a nice background which creates an air of mystery. This wallpaper consists of images of various members of Akasuki and the quality of the image is excellent. There is yet another type of Naruto wallpaper which has Uchiha Sasuke in it. It looks cute. The image has a backdrop of a house with a blooming tree in it. A good colouring effect has been given to this Naruto wallpaper of Uchiha Sasuke. I have also seen another type of Naruto wallpaper which is about Sai. This character named “Sai” is seen in a lonely mood and appears to be torn between two extremes. The two extreme team consists of Naruto and Sakura. A good effect has been given towards both the sides. The left side indicates that they are from Konoha, the so called leaf village. The right side of the picture has a brown like color effect.

I would like to conclude this review based article by stating about yet another Naruto wall paper of Yamanaka Ino. She is been shown as if she is pulling her eye and sticking her tongue out. This wallpaper has a color image of Yamanaka Ino, with a blue ticker in the centre. The photograph consists of black and white color at the top and a button of Naruta wallpaper.
